CURRICULUM

Profession, occupation, aknowledge and expertise areas can students occupy are; (1) art and science professionals in fostering Indonesian art and culture as subjects, not as objects of study and/ or the interests of other nations; (2) areas that require the creation and research of new culture rooted in the Indonesian culture  with the hope to contribute more benefits for public welfare and to build the character of the Indonesian people; (3) fields and professions that require creativity and independence and to cooperate and work together with the local communities with open and honest attitudes, sense of responsibility ethically, logically, and aesthetically.

ISI Denpasar organizes the master program of study that encompasses the field area of art creation and art research based on public needs and requirements of scientific development. The field area of art creation and art research accomodates interests of study / concentration (1) the art creation and (2) the art research. Graduates are bellieved to enter a broad opportunities after graduating from master program of study besides as an art creator and art researcher.

There are five elements of competence according to the decree of the Ministry of National Education  Number 045/U/2002, namely;

  1. Basis of personality/ A Course of Personality Development: is a group of study materials for developing the Indonesian people toward faithful, devoted, thoughful, and independent personalities, with a high sense of social and national responsibility.
  2. The mastery of science and skill/ A Course of Working Expertise: is a group of study materials aimed for prominantly providing students a certain basis of science and skill.
  3. Working ability/ A Course of Working Expertise: is a group of study materials aimed for producing resourceful workforces with science and skill background.
  4. Working attitude and behavior according to the level of expertise which is based on science and skill background/ A Course of Working Behavior: is a group of indispensable study materials aimed for helping build individual working attitude and behavior according to the level of expertise which is based on science and skill background.
  5. Understanding of social life in accord with the expertise preferance of working/ A Course of Social Life: is a group of indispensable study materials to understand the social life in accord with the individual expertise preferance of working.

The five of the above elements of competence are;

  1. Prime Competence/Core : is the basis for achieving competence of graduates, and is a reference book for a minimum quality of the program of study that is determined by the universities (similar program of studies), the public profession and service users. Taking a load of 40% -80% of the total load of study.
  2. Supporting Competence/Institutional: is the particular competence that coherences with the prime competence of a certain program of study and detrmined by the institutional provider of the program of study. Taking a load of 20%-40% of the total load of study.

Prime Competence/Core is defined into the curriculum of Art Creation  Program as follows;

  1. Art creation that is containing creative and innovative ideas of which scientifically accountable.
  2. Artworks presentation and exhibition on public forum.
  3. Artworks development for public interests, and
  4. Enhancement of appreciation for public wellfare.

Supporting Competence of Art Creation Program as follows;

  1. Administering artworks/the results of creation within the context of national and international.
  2. Development of art profession in public life.
  3. Understanding, mastering of the utilization, using information technology for the purposes of art creation, development, and promotion.
  4. Curatorship and network understanding and comprehension (museum, konsultant, auction, etc).

Prime Competence/Core is defined into the curriculum of Art Research Program as follows;

  1. The comprehension of science and analytical ability against the art and social fenomenon that is scientifically accountable.
  2. Presentation on scientific forum;
  3. Spacious and deep review as well as analysis against the artworks.
  4. Enhancement of appreciation for public wellfare.

Supporting Competence of Art Research Program as follows;

  1. Administering artworks/the results of creation within the context of national and international.
  2. Development of art profession in public life.
  3. Understanding, mastering of the utilization, using information technology for the purposes of art creation, development, and promotion.
  4. Curatorship and network understanding and comprehension (museum, konsultant, auction, etc).
