Governor Pastika Wins Highest Award of Siwa Nataraja from ISI Denpasar

Denpasar (BBBTimes) - Strong commitment of Bali Governor, Made Mangku Pastika, in preserving the arts and culture through the activities like the Bali Arts Festival, Bali Mahalango and Bali Mandara Nawa Natya got appreciation from the Indonesia Institute of the Arts (ISI) Denpasar with the presentation of Siwa Nataraja Award given to the governor of Bali.

Governor Pastika is considered to have extended great help in developing local arts and culture so that they become vibrant and provide space as wide as possible for the artists to work and innovate.

Handover of the highest award of the ISI Denpasar in the form of Siwa Nataraja ring was given in person by the Rector of the ISI Denpasar, Prof. Dr. I Gede Arya Sugiartha, in the Senate Open Session in a series of the 14th anniversary of the ISI Denpasar in Natya Mandala Building, Friday (Jul. 28).

Governor Pastika in his speech expressed gratitude and appreciation to the award, and presented the award to the entire academicians, humanists and Balinese artists that have worked hard with full dedication to continuously grow, preserve and develop local culture.

“Other than focused on poverty alleviation efforts, the Bali Mandara program also pays great attention to the program of local cultural preservation. I want that arts can become a source of livelihood for the artists. The Bali Art Center is expected to have activities throughout the year with various art performances. Keep on developing the arts so that they can provide benefits for the art and welfare,” he added.

Furthermore, Pastika delivered that today Balinese arts can grow and develop in the middle of the values of globalization. They have been able to remarkable support and become important part of Bali tourism advancement.

Younger generation of Bali is also increasingly interested to get involved and learn the local arts. Other than having activities throughout the year, the Bali Art Center also holds a variety of art performances. This shows the art passion and appreciation of Balinese people to the arts is very high.

On the other hand, as the Board of Trustees of the ISI Denpasar, Governor Pastika hoped the moment of the 14th anniversary can be used to strengthen the quality of education and increase social role of the ISI Denpasar institution.

The ISI Denpasar does not only have the task to give birth to intellectual artists or scholars that understand and master the arts as well as prepare them to seize job market, but more importantly, it also makes Balinese young generation establish the life of their art creativity as a primary identity and region in the middle of the increasingly complex competition.

“The longer, I hope the quality of output produced by the ISI Denpasar is increasingly improved so that Balinese arts and culture remain sustainable and have richer innovations and new creations to compete among the global order,” he said.

Similar opinion was also conveyed by Rector of the ISI Denpasar, Prof. Dr. I Gede Arya Sugiartha, where he invited the staff to make celebration of the 14th anniversary a moment to fortify ourselves, continue to make improvement and see clearly what having been done to be contributed to community and the world of the arts.

In a series of the 14th anniversary, the ISI Denpasar conferred the Siwa Nataraja Award to two prominent figures who have significantly contributed to the preservation of Balinese art and culture.

Other than Governor of Bali, Made Mangku Pastika, the award was also handed over to the NLN Swasti Widjaja Bandem, a retired lecturer of the ISI Denpasar, who has choreographed numerous beautiful works of art like Sekar Jagat Dance, Puspanjali Dance and Cendrawasih Dance. The dances have grown rapidly and have served as the basic for students learning to dance in Balinese dance studio.

Celebration of the anniversary was attended by Inspector of Bali Province, Ketut Teneng, Head of Bali Regional Development Planning as well as Research and Development, I Putu Astawa, Head of Bali Culture Agency, Dewa Putu Beratha, representatives of regents / mayors in Bali, member of the board of trustees of the ISI Denpasar, humanists and other invited artists.
